Tour: 24 day motorcycle tour of the Black Sea Coast.
Date: Tours operates from Thursday 5 May to Saturday 28 May 2011.
Distance: Approx. 3,100 miles/4,990 km.
Destination: The tour starts and finishes in Istanbul. Take your own bike or take advantage of numerous flight options ranging from Easyjet budget flights to BA business class and hire a bike on arrival.
Price: From $8,985 USD per person own bike option. From $11,985 USD including bike hire *not including flights.
Motorcycles: The latest BMW F650GS (800 cc) are at our disposal.
Group: Min 8 plus tour leader, support vehicle and driver.
Hotels: 3* & some 4* hotels for 23 nights.
Tour Route: This is a motorcycle tour of the countries that circumvent the Black Sea Coast. It is a road tour but the route will involve some unpaved surfaces. Duel purpose motorcycles are most suitable for the roads on this tour and some off road riding experience is recommended.
Ride through Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and end the ride back in Turkey. This ride around the Black Sea starts on the European side of the Bosporus in Istanbul and continues through the seven countries that share the coastline. From Turkey cross into Bulgaria and then Romania riding through heavily forested and mountainous regions and into Moldova, a tiny country famed for its wines. The Ukraine, and especially the Crimean Peninsula, has long been holiday destination due to its climate. Cross into Russia then via ferry to Georgia returning to the eastern part of Turkey to ride along the Black Sea coast to Istanbul.
The route is based on the novel Keraban the Inflexible by Jules Verne. Keraban and his friends decide to travel around the Black Sea after the Ottoman Empire imposes a tax on crossing the Bosporus. After a long and difficult journey, Keraban and his entourage succeed in completing the journey without paying the tax. We will be following in his footsteps exploring the different cultures around the Black Sea and of course aiming to pay no tax!
